Mika

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

♀, born approx. 8/2025, loving - cheerful - child-friendly Mika is a female Bulgarian hunting dog, born around August 2025, with a shoulder height of approximately 55 cm and a weight of around 12 kg. She is still very thin. Mika was picked up by a Bulgarian animal rights activist on the streets of Bulgaria as part of a spay/neuter project. Mika was very happy about the human conversation and the brought treats. She eagerly accepted them, allowing herself to be secured and taken away without any problems. Now she is supposed to return to the streets. But our animal rights colleague cannot bring herself to do it, and Mika simply wants a chance at a great home: that's why we are helping with the adoption. We are also looking for a home that is not in the city center and, ideally, a house with a garden. Mika would certainly like to accompany her/his person to the office and be right in the middle of everything, not just along for the ride. We are looking for active, committed people who see Mika as a lifelong friend and foster and develop her with loving consistency and positive reinforcement. They love her and give her what a street dog never had: a great home with a lot of heart! Mika is ready to travel! Mika is vaccinated, chipped, spayed, dewormed multiple times, and already tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. She is in Bulgaria. The adoption fee for Mika is 580 euros. About Mika

What life with Mika looks like

Mika is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
