adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Mikado has found a home! His story: Here comes Mikado! With his delicate weight of around 7 kg, this little treasure is currently still light as a feather, but his presence is already huge! Mikado has fluffy black fur, interrupted only by a few elegant white accents – simply irresistible! He always looks slightly tousled, which gives him a very special, uncannily charming look. With him, the rule is: If you fall in love with this furball, you should best hold still – because everyone wants to cuddle this mop of a head! It's not out of the question that a few pointers might be mixed in his family tree. Mikado is not only handsome but also super friendly, open, curious, and immediately there when you enter the kennel. He loves being close to people! Found together with his siblings in the forest – frostbitten, hungry, and desperate. But those times are thankfully over! Now, Mikado, who will likely grow into a medium to large handsome fellow, is searching for his very own happy ending. He gets along well with other dogs, but we're still unsure about cats. As a puppy, Mikado is like a sponge: He wants to learn, explore, and most of all, cuddle! The puppyhood phase requires patience, lots of positive reinforcement, and especially playful introduction to life in a family! House training, step-by-step independence, basic commands – all of this needs to be learned. And when you think the essentials are done – zack, comes the famous puberty! The pointer genes could mean he becomes headstrong and busy. He will test his limits and suddenly the "ears on full alert" phase is there – just like when Mikado plays, and the sticks move that shouldn't! Don't worry, that's normal! What's important is: consistency, love, patience, and humor! Clear rules, an engaging anti-boredom program (thinking games, nose work, easy training), enough exercise, and most importantly: creating quiet zones. Mikado then needs a reliable hand to guide him through this wild time and channel his energy into positive directions. A visit to dog training classes could be helpful at this point. Mikado travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU pet passport to his family. After a positive adoption, he would also be happy with a foster home. Are you ready to give this enchanting, lively treasure a life full of love, adventure, and security? Thank you, Roxana! With your nametag sponsorship, you have given Mikado an identity. Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stubenreinheit, schrittweises Alleine bleiben, Grundkommandos – all das will gelernt werden. Danke Roxana! Mit Deiner Namenspatenschaft hast Du Mikado eine Identität geschenkt. Stand:13.12.2025

About Mikado

What life with Mikado looks like

Mikado is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mikado, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mikado?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mikado on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mikado if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mikado already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mikado isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mikado and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
