Mila

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

Mila born around 2017 is looking for a quiet "THIS TIME – FOR GOOD – HOME". I am Mila and I was already here at the animal shelter once before. Back then (2018), I was gently captured, brought to the animal shelter, and was able to have my babies. My babies (Melvin and Motte) found their own forever home after they grew up and became independent. For me, it was not quite there yet at first. I still needed to be neutered and vaccinated. After I successfully did that, I also found my own home. There, I settled in quickly and was able to look past some of my past fears. I lived with very understanding people who gave me time and love. After my adjustment period, I became a reliable outdoor cat and grew more and more trusting. However, when my new can opener went into a six-week vacation, I was completely thrown off. Although I was well cared for, I missed my primary caregiver. That's why I did not return home and was gone for a while. In mid-February 2026, I was captured again through an intake action at the Royal Eagle in Aurich and ended up back at the animal shelter. There, I had lived in a garden community since 2022 and was cared for by loving people. The animal shelter recognized me again, or rather, my tattoo in my ear was registered with the animal shelter. At first, I was still a bit anxious, but with familiar people, I am very cuddly and people-oriented. The former owner has made contact with TH and together they discussed my future. Everyone wishes me a new home. New chance – new happiness! I wish for an arrival room where I can meet my new can openers in peace and, after settling in, also have a secure roam in a quiet environment.

About Mila

What life with Mila looks like

Mila is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Vaihingen in Vaihingen an der Enz.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Vaihingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Vaihingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Vaihingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
