Mila &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Mila is a young female dog you simply can’t miss. This playful mixed-breed lady has stunning looks—but even more importantly, she’s got enough charm to go around for four dogs. At about 40 cm at the shoulder, she’s a wonderfully practical size: big enough for shared adventures, yet small enough to elegantly slip under a restaurant table (purely theoretical, of course—because Mila will be busy happily accepting all those “Can I pet her?” requests). Mila was born in March 2025, making her roughly one year old and right in that phase where her brain occasionally seems to have been swapped out for glittery playdough. In other words: puppy puberty. That means lots of charm, loads of energy, and endless ideas—not all of them sensible, but almost always heartwarming. One day, Mila appeared alone on the streets, wandering disoriented, slipping into gardens, seeking people out, and following them trustingly. Eventually, a woman approached her—or rather, the woman spoke to Mila, and Mila thought that was a brilliant idea. Mila’s “rescue mission” thus unfolded very quietly and amicably with everyone’s agreement, and ArcoNatura gained another princess. There, she’s proven herself a cheerful, open, and deeply people-oriented female dog. Mila loves all people—tall or short, familiar or strangers—as long as they’ve got hands for petting and time to just be. She’s friendly, cuddly, and quickly trusts her surroundings, making her a pleasant companion. She also gets along well with other dogs at the animal shelter, understands canine communication rules, and handles life in a large pack without stress. Mila has since been vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and holds a spotless health certificate in her blue passport. She’s more than ready to set off on her journey toward great happiness, straight into the heart of a loving family. But before you excitedly send an email, take a moment to consider what you truly expect from your future housemate. As a young dog, Mila is an energy vampire. Puppies need time, patience, clear structure, and humans willing to learn, laugh, and occasionally take a deep breath. House-training, basic obedience, walking nicely on leash, and impulse control aren’t magic tricks—they’re joint projects. Anyone expecting everything to work out on its own will be disappointed. But if you’re eager to grow together, you’ll find in Mila an incredibly affectionate and joyful partner. Mila is looking for people who have a sense of humor, show consistency, and take delight in showing a young female dog the ways of the world—and in doing so, becoming a little happier themselves every day.

About Mila &#8211

What life with Mila &#8211 looks like

Mila &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mila &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mila &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mila &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mila &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mila &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mila &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mila &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
