Adopt MILLY

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Name: MILLY Gender: Male Born: 11/2024 In the shelter since: 06.03.2025 Origin: Animal shelter Shoulder height: still growing. Weight: Gets along with children: has not met children yet Dogs: yes Cats: yes Vaccinated and microchipped: yes EU Pet Passport: yes Our pretty MILLY and her sister were rescued from the animal shelter in March. The young female dog is age-appropriate in terms of agility and liveliness, but she also shows some genetically determined behavioral traits already. From her appearance, we assume that MILLY carries herding dog genes. We also notice some typical breed behaviors in her based on her actions. To guide these directly into the right paths, MILLY has been intensively cared for and trained by an experienced volunteer since her arrival at the shelter. Thanks to this support, MILLY has already made significant learning progress at the shelter. After a multi-week stay in Germany, where she accompanied her "own" volunteer, MILLY got a good impression of life outside the very rural shelter. The journey itself was managed excellently thanks to competent guidance. However, as soon as MILLY stays longer in one place, she begins to show typical herding dog behavior and acts territorially and defensively. Overall, Milly's behavior is quite friendly, and she, for example, allows visitors to enter the house after a brief initial barking once the person has shown that it is okay. However, she is fundamentally more skeptical and cautious with strangers, and unlike some other fellow animals, she is not particularly enthusiastic when her private space is invaded by unknown people. In response to signals from the primary caregiver, MILLY also reacts excellently in such situations, can be put down or called, and can eventually put aside her initial skepticism. On walks or generally when meeting people or dogs, MILLY shows similar behavior. She is generally friendly and open at first, but after a while, she also shows territorial and defensive behavior, typical for herding dogs. However, she also reacts very well to appropriate management measures. MILLY shows a good orientation towards people and can quickly recall what she has learned. She travels well in the car and can settle down excellently in her crate. MILLY only shares her food reluctantly and leaves no doubt about it. Therefore, we wish for her a home where she has her bowl all to herself. However, towards people, MILLY is absolutely unobtrusive and can be taken everything by her human without a problem. MILLY is a very eager-to-learn female dog who is very attentive to her trusted people and can quickly understand and implement the requirements set by them. A consistent upbringing with body language and clear signals is therefore considered essential for her further development. We are looking for a home in the countryside for MILLY with people who already have experience in dealing with herding dogs and are familiar with the management of these wonderful and special animals.

About MILLY

What life with MILLY looks like

MILLY is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Arche Noah Transilvania e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MILLY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MILLY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arche Noah Transilvania e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MILLY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MILLY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arche Noah Transilvania e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MILLY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MILLY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arche Noah Transilvania e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know MILLY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
