Milo

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Senior · 16 years

Hello, my name is Milo and I’m a superstar senior boy at 16 years of age! Sadly, this is my second time at Raystede as I have now been rehomed twice due to the ill health of my owners – nothing to do with me, I can assure you! I’d love to find an understanding and loving home for my retirement. My personality: I like to be the centre of attention when I choose, and I know what I like and don’t like. I’m a confident chap, very affectionate and enjoy a good chin scratch. I’m not always a lap cat but I did enjoy sleeping on my owner’s bed, so I’ll be a perfect companion for the right people. I do have my independent and inquisitive side, as well as liking a good snooze in my comfy bed or a sunny spot. I’m extremely chatty and will let you know when it’s dinner time! I’m a lovely old boy with a heart of gold. Children: I’m not keen on young children but could share my home with older, sensible children who will respect me. Other animals: I do not like other cats or dogs so will need a home where I can be the only pet. Additional needs: As an older boy, I’ve got my health quirks – I am on pain relief for arthritis and steroid tablets for my skin and upset tummy. I was finding the Cattery a little stressful, so I’m now enjoying time in a foster home. Everyone is hoping that once I am settled in a furrever home, my tummy will settle. I’ve passed my blood tests with flying colours and, despite a bit of tartar on my teeth, I still love my food! I’ll need a lovely garden to explore in an area with little traffic. I’m known to cross roads and wander to neighbours’ gardens. Can you offer me my purrfect home for my twilight years? Love Milo xxx

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at Raystede Centre in Ringmer.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Raystede Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
