Milo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

by Kennels | Jul 4, 2026 | Dogs, Liverpool, Male, New Resident Liverpool, Dogs, Liverpool, Male, New Resident, Seniors Over the years (originally 2019), this is now Milo’s 3rd visit into Freshfields. Milo was adopted back in 2022 by James who loved Milo dearly. Unfortunately James recently passed away & their family are unable to keep him, due to them having cats. Behaviour: Milo is a very typical Terrier, he is full of character & likes things on his terms. Although he is 11, he is full of energy loves to play & loves his walks. He has previously mixed with other dogs, not to live with but may happily walk with well mannered respectful dogs. Milo is not a lapdog, he is a typical terrier, feisty, full of character. Once he is familiar with you he will come for affection but he is not an overly affectionate dog, he likes his own space, this includes his food & his toys. We will never know what has happened in Milo’s past, ever since we have known him, he has issues with anyone touching around his head & neck so this will need time & patience. Information from James’ family, James had no issues attaching his lead, which lets us know, once he trusts you he will allow that contact. Home required: Milo is ideally looking for someone who has owned, knows & loves the Terrier breed. He will be better suited to a home with no other pets & no children including visiting children. He would also be better suited to a single person household as he has been know to be a little protective over his person. Anyone interested in Milo must be prepared to make multiple visits to the centre to get to know him, as he will need time & patience to get to feel comfortable around you. Milo still has a lot of energy, so will need someone who is active enough to take him out for regular works & although he is small, he does like to forge ahead on the lead, obviously this can be worked on but this will also take time. Milo is truly a gorgeous sweet boy given space & not being overly hands on. He is so full of character & although he has only been back for a couple of days, he brings a smile to our faces with his his expressive little face & his amazing smile. About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freshfields Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freshfields Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freshfields Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
