Milo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Milo will break through. With just five months old, Milo ended up at the State animal shelter Bucharest, commonly known as ASPA. Here, his life came to a standstill; nothing went right. A life in a cage. Milos' end station? And what do you do, dear Milo? After months in the animal shelter, sunk in hopelessness, you are taken out of your cage by a caretaker, stepping out friendly, optimistic, and engaged. "What's up?" you ask. You discover a kitten, sniffing it. "Do you want to play with me?" you ask hesitantly. But the kitten doesn't understand dog language, makes a bow, and shows you its rear. Better with your dog buddies. You are popular, a friendly charmer. You are just a really nice guy. Milo, Milo – how great can a dog be? The connoisseur among animal lovers discovers in you a soul dog. Yes, that's you. One who is ready to connect their soul, to give their heart, to be fully there for their beloved person. For their rescuer and protector. No wonder the right person, Your Person, recognizes you from afar, speaks to you, and gives you hope. Maybe even calls you. Who knows? And now, let's talk about what you could really use: A little house with a garden or a big apartment, because you're not a mini-dog. But more important: People who are up for adventure and show you the world. Semi-athletic types who like to go for walks or hikes. People who are eager to take you to dog training classes. The education offered at the animal shelter was lacking. Unfortunately. The lesson on "How to properly use the leash" was always canceled. But you can't be blamed for that. Your new people will surely practice with you. We wish for people who are aware that you are a young dog who doesn't want to lie in a corner all day but would rather curl up on a nice, human-scented spot on the couch at night – good… optional in the dog bed – no objections. And the most important thing we can't forget: People who will open their hearts to you, give you time to settle in and orient yourself. A few nice photos and a small video have been taken of you. The caretaker leads you back to your cage. Now you look sad again. Don't cry, dear Milo. Your person will find you and will not let the light of your candle be extinguished. All the best to you. Could you imagine a life with Milo? Could Milo be your soul dog? Milos' matchmaker is at your side with advice and support. Call during the day or send an email. All the best to you. Milo will durchstarten. Milos Endstation?Und was machst du, lieber Milo? „Was geht?“, fragst du. About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
