Adopt Zido

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Senior · 11 years

Zido is very open and positive towards people, he is a cheerful dog exuding boundless joy in life. Zido quickly builds trust and loves with his whole dog heart. He enjoys attention and proximity from his people and is generally obedient and a pleasant companion. Out for walks, Zido is a relaxed walker and leash-friendly, he regularly walks in our group walks, which is no problem for him. In direct contact with fellow animals, he decides based on sympathy and can also react negatively. This has unfortunately led him to the animal shelter, as Zido was classified as a dangerous dog due to a bite incident with a fellow animal and is therefore subject to the police ordinance on the protection of the public from dangerous dogs in Saarland. On public grounds, he is subject to the leash and muzzle requirement. Interested parties must successfully complete the behavioral assessment with Zido (previous training assumed) and the theoretical knowledge test. With the right preparation and in the right hands, we assume that Zido will successfully complete the behavioral assessment. For an interested party, we will gladly advise you in detail about this topic and the adoption process. Zido is an individual prince and we are looking for consistent people with dog experience who can safely lead him and for whom the muzzle and leash requirement is not a problem. We ask interested parties to contact us via email:. Walks well on a leash.

About Zido

What life with Zido looks like

Zido is a senior staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Bertha-Bruch-Tierheim Saarbrücken in Saarbrücken.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zido, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zido?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bertha-Bruch-Tierheim Saarbrücken handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zido on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zido if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bertha-Bruch-Tierheim Saarbrücken will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Zido already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zido isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bertha-Bruch-Tierheim Saarbrücken early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zido and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
