Milo

Yorkshire Terrier Β· Male Β· Young Β· 1 year

UPDATED PROFILE, 12/5/26 Milo, born 27/11/24, is a Yorkshire terrier who came into our care in November '25 due to his owner being in hospital long term. He is neutered and fully vaccinated. He is a lovely young lad who can initially be nervous of new people but once he has warmed up to you he is a much happier and more relaxed boy who enjoys cuddles and lots of attention. Milo has been adopted and returned twice for behavioural issues and is looking for an adopter who can manage these. We are looking for someone who has experience of dogs who have an anxious/ possessive/ hand shy side to their nature and who can work with this. Milo has bitten in the past when his boundaries have been pushed. Out and about he is very sociable and loves to be around other dogs but in his first home he became jealous of the other dog and that was the reason for his return. We won't place him with children or other pets for this reason. When at home with both adopters he was a cuddly, happy boy who bonded quickly so we think he would benefit from an adult only home (possibly a single person who is around most of the time) where he can make that bond and that person then work on making him feel happy to share their attention with other people and dogs etc. Milo is not fully house trained and this is also going to need work from his next adopter. Since he last returned to Windyway he has had surgery to repair a luxating patella and this is now fully healed and some aspects of his behaviour do appear to have improved greatly, leading us to believe that it may have been, at least in part, due to feeling uncomfortable. The Trustees have agreed to assist in funding a behaviourist to work with his adopter if necessary as it is essential that approved training exercises are used. He will also need regular grooming to keep his coat in good condition and will enjoy this once he's decided he's in safe hands. When completing an application please give further information on your experience with the issue mentioned above. For anyone interested in more information about his behaviour before deciding whether to apply, please do email or telephone us and we'll be happy to chat in more depth.

About Milo

What life with Milo looks like

Milo is a young adult yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Windyway Animal Rescue in Macclesfield.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Windyway Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Windyway Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Milo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Windyway Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
