Milow

Bichon Frisé · Male

Milow is a calm and independent dog. He needs people who accept him as he is and respect his retreats and boundaries. Care and grooming should be done without pressure or constraint. Milow adapts to his owner's daily routine, short walks are enough for him, which he completes easily on a leash. He is rather distant with other dogs in the group and wants his peace. Milow spends most of his time resting and is not a dog that enjoys cuddling. He only allows people he trusts to touch him. Unfortunately, Milow is stubborn and won't let go of bones or other things without a discussion. When visitors arrive, he barks briefly, greets the people, and then becomes quiet. If he wants something, he lets people know with a short bark. Milow can generally be left alone, but a confident dog by his side would be great. We are looking for a home with enough dog experience, no children, but with cats, where he can spend his retirement in peace. Maybe Milow can bring Kiki, his cat friend, along?

DE·Show original

Schultergrößr: ca. 25 cm Milow ist ein ruhiger und eigenständiger Hund. Er braucht Menschen, die ihn so nehmen wie er ist und seine Rückzugsorte und Grenzen akzeptieren. Versorgung und Pflege sollten zwingend ohne Druck oder Einengung erfolgen. Milow passt sich der Alltagsstruktur seines Menschen an, kurze Spaziergänge reichen ihm, die absolviert er problemlos an der Leine. Gegenüber anderen Hunden in der Gruppe verhält er sich eher distanziert und möchte seine Ruhe haben. Milow ruht altersbedingt die meiste Zeit und ist kein ausgeprägter Schmusehund. Anfassen lässt er sich nur von Menschen, zu denen er Vertrauen gefasst hat. Leider ist Milow stur und lässt sich Knochen - oder andere Dinge - nicht ohne Diskussion aus dem Maul nehmen. Bei Besuch bellt er zunächst kurz, freut sich über die ankommenden Personen und ist anschließend ruhig. Wenn er etwas möchte, macht er sich durch ein kurzes Bellen bemerkbar. Milow kann grundsätzlich alleine bleiben, ein souveräner Hund an seiner Seite wäre allerdings klasse. Wir wünschen uns ein Zuhause mit ausreichend Hundeerfahrung, ohne Kinder, gerne aber dafür mit Katzen, in dem er seinen Lebensabend entspannt verbringen darf. Vielleicht darf Milow Kiki, seine Katzenfreundin mitbringen? display: none !important; .lSSlideOuter .lSPager.lSGallery {

About Milow

What life with Milow looks like

Milow is a adult bichon frisé dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Porz in Köln.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Milow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Milow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Porz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Milow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Milow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Porz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Milow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Milow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Porz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Milow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
