Mimi 2

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Mimi (Maia in her passport) is a small dog with an unknown character. She has always had a loving home where she was well cared for, although she is a bit overweight. She was chipped, spayed, and vaccinated and trimmed every year. However, she was given up to the shelter after 8 years without any explanation... Maybe her owner passed away and the family wanted to get rid of her. Maybe they emigrated to another country. We don't know. We are just happy that she was brought to the shelter and not dumped in the woods or in a village! Behavior in the house: Mimi comes from a domestic situation. Right after arriving at the foster home, she lets herself be petted and picked up if necessary, but she is not completely at ease yet. In Romania itself, dogs in this shelter have no chance, even the sweetest and most beautiful dogs and puppies do not have a chance to be adopted there... And a life locked in a Romanian shelter kennel is not a life, but mainly survival. Fortunately, animal love 🐾 does not have to stop at a country border! We found a foster family for Mimi in the Netherlands, where she arrived on August 29, 2026. She will stay with them and be supervised until we find a nice permanent home for her.

About Mimi 2

What life with Mimi 2 looks like

Mimi 2 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Straydogs Rescue Nederland in RC Nieuwe Pekela.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mimi 2, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mimi 2?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straydogs Rescue Nederland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mimi 2 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mimi 2 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Straydogs Rescue Nederland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mimi 2 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mimi 2 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straydogs Rescue Nederland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mimi 2 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
