Mina &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Mina has a very special story to tell, and it's not a pleasant one... In February 2022, the beautiful, three-year-old mixed breed dog with adorable round eyes was rescued from euthanasia by our friends from Dolmen Animal. Mina obviously had an old injury from a trap, and there are very few chances of survival for disabled dogs in the shelter. The extremely timid female dog then came to a dog boarding facility in Huelva through the association, where she was thought to be in good hands and it was hoped that she would soon gain enough trust in her caretaker to allow further examination of her injured leg. Unfortunately, the dogs in the small facility were severely neglected in recent months, which only became apparent during a visit. All the four-legged residents had to quickly move to another animal shelter - and many show even more behavioral problems and fears than before due to the poor care. Mina now lives in Linares and is surprisingly doing well in the large group. She shows interest in her caregivers and has made friends with many other dogs. The brave fighter still finds touch very disturbing, but it was finally possible to take an X-ray of her foot. Apparently, the trap had amputated one of our shy survivor's toes, and the associated fracture did not heal perfectly. However, Mina seems to be pain-free; she plays and jumps with enthusiasm and also runs competitively with her companions at impressive speed. However, she has developed a movement pattern that appears somewhat wobbly - she initiates each step with a hip swing. Well, supermodels do that too... Mina, who is now five years old (as of July 2024), finally needs her happy ending after this long odyssey from the street, through euthanasia, to neglect... ArcoNatura is just a starting point and a good beginning. We are therefore looking for these very special people for our princess, who know that their dog will not become the neighborhood's favorite right away, who know that it can take months or even years until Mina comes for cuddles, but who also know that there is no greater gift than giving a four-legged being like our often disappointed yet so brave fighter a chance and winning over the frightened heart. Mina is looking for bipeds who will take care of her, accompany her on vet visits, and give her the necessary security. Mina needs a home where she can heal, both externally and internally. Our little sugar snowflake is now five years old, and it would be terrible if she had to spend her life in an animal shelter. We wish for Mina a very quiet, loving home with extremely patient people who will give her all the time in the world to arrive, make friends, build trust and start over again.

About Mina &#8211

What life with Mina &#8211 looks like

Mina &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mina &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mina &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mina &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mina &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mina &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mina &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mina &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
