Adopt Minnie

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Status: open Name: Minnie Breed: Mix Gender: female Age: born 1.10.2025 shoulder height/size: 40 cm Color: black and white Reason for surrender: taken over from a Romanian animal shelter compatible with: dogs Description: Every day, Minnie discovers so many new things in her foster home – no wonder she falls into a deep, comatose sleep completely exhausted every evening. When Minnie arrived from Romania, she was still extremely shy. But since her move into a foster home, she makes great progress every day. At first, she sat fearfully in the corner – today, she already happily runs through the house with the two dogs of her foster family. Minnie is a clever little dog and watches everything the 'big dogs' do. She also finds other (strange) dogs great and likes to play with them. In the foster home, she has chosen a primary caregiver who she particularly clings to. Since Minnie is very food-oriented, she can be easily bribed with treats, which makes the training work easier. The recall in the garden is already going very well. Working on leash manners is still ongoing. Just for dogs like Minnie, who in their first months of life hardly saw anything but a cattery, sovereign fellow dogs are invaluable. Her two four-legged 'bodyguards' show her how wonderful life can be – and help her reduce stress and build trust. Of course, sensitive young dogs like Minnie need above all time, patience, and people with dog experience who can lovingly accompany and strengthen them. Desired home: dog-experienced people, preferably with a nice only dog. Children should be teenagers. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

Status: offen Name: Minnie Rasse: Mix Geschlecht: weiblich Alter: geb. Kontakt:

About Minnie

What life with Minnie looks like

Minnie is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Minnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Minnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Minnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Minnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Minnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Minnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Minnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
