Adopt Minu & Maya

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

🐾 Minu & Maya – two young Podenco girl puppies are looking for happiness together or separately 🐾 Minu (on the left in the picture) and Maya (on the right) are two approximately 1.5-year-old Podenco female dogs who had a tough start in life. Both were found severely emaciated in the southern part of the island and were brought to safety. Despite their past, Minu and Maya are absolutely social and show friendliness and simplicity in their interactions with fellow animals. Even though they have had little life experience so far, they meet people with great openness and a lot of affection. Both enjoy closeness, kind words, and attention. Minu and Maya are just at the beginning of their journey and now want to learn how a protected dog life can be – with walks, security, and trusted people. For the two young Podenco girl puppies, we wish loving, patient people who will give them security and accompany them step by step into their new life. 💛 Minu and Maya have not lost their trust in people – now they hope for their chance at a real home. If you are the person who will give one or both of these sweet mice their well-deserved home, then please fill out the interested parties form. Here is the link: Minu & Maya adopt This interested parties form is the basis for a detailed phone call with you, where we will gladly answer all your questions. Your team from Sando e. About Minu & Maya

What life with Minu & Maya looks like

Minu & Maya is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Sando e.V. in Vechelde.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Minu & Maya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Minu & Maya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Sando e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Minu & Maya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Minu & Maya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Sando e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Minu & Maya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Minu & Maya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Sando e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Minu & Maya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
