Mira

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Born in September 2022, healthy, vaccinated, microchipped, and sterilized, Mira is a wonderful companion dog, clever, obedient, and very people-oriented. She senses her human’s mood sensitively, is affectionate and tender. She is very active and lively. Mira loves playing with fellow animals on the dog park and walks in the woods with her human. She patiently tolerates car rides. The most important thing is that a human is nearby, then she feels calm and secure in any situation. She is friendly toward children. Miras story is like that of many abandoned dogs, sad. In the winter, she and her sisters were found in the woods near a highway. Someone had brought the puppies there and left them without food and water. Probably, the mother was a family dog. All the puppies were very friendly and calm. Mira was the most tender and gentle, hence her name. Voluntary helpers brought the puppies to a foster home. All have found their people. Only Mira still waits for her heart’s person. She lives with children, cats, and dogs, gets along with everyone excellently, and is very friendly and peaceful. The foster mother praises the little female dog very much and speaks especially affectionately about her: “Mira is exceptionally loving and charming, gentle and touching. She is like a cozy, fussy little mouse, one can hug her so beautifully. Mira is very clever, obedient, and sensitive. She senses my mood and tone immediately, understands exactly what I want from her, and fulfills my wishes with joy. She learns commands and has already achieved good results. She is very sensitive and loves affection, warmth, and kindness. Of course, Mira is on a leash and house-trained. She can also stay alone at home and entertain herself with her toys. She is interested in cats, observes them, but can sometimes startle them.” Mira fits perfectly into any family, whether a large family with children or a couple. She will surely be a gentle, loving family dog and a faithful companion. Give her a home, and you will learn what true attachment, loyalty, and unconditional love mean. Walks well on a leash.

About Mira

What life with Mira looks like

Mira is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. in Gladbeck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
