Mischling Johann &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

My name is Johann. I am male, vaccinated, microchipped, and born around 2020. I have been waiting since July 2021 for a new home. I am around 65 cm tall. My caretakers say about me: Johann is a regional return dog. Somewhat impulsively acquired, unfortunately in connection with Corona and an animal welfare association, which reacted to the return request with additional demands. Although it was reported on time that it does not work as originally planned. Yes, Johann is a little unsure and anxious at the beginning, but this caution fades quickly when he has one or two days of interaction and builds trust. He is a typical young pup who seeks and needs leadership. He accepts commands and rules rather quickly, as they give him security. Johann wants to do everything right, is basically compatible with fellow animals, and sometimes lets his dominant side show. Before embarking on the hustle and bustle of life with him, there is still a lot of training and getting used to environmental stimuli needed, but nothing that needs to be mentioned exceptionally. He is certainly not a problem dog; he is a young pup with age-appropriate demands on his new owners. He still needs basic training and should receive the necessary fine-tuning in dog training classes. Due to his insecurity, he is a good watch dog, and Johann should also be rehomed when he can be trusted. If other animal species are present, he can be brought along with the necessary finesse, and having common sense is advantageous. For Johann, a home in a rural area is preferred with the willingness to work through the puppy class with him, paired with a lot of interaction with fellow animals. If children are present, they should ideally be beyond the toddler stage. Johann can also be a second dog, preferably to a confident female dog. Who would like to offer our nicely stream-lined Johann a life full of adventures and give him the security he needs for a fulfilling dog life?. This is a young, adolescent dog. Gets along with other dogs.

About Mischling Johann &#8211

What life with Mischling Johann &#8211 looks like

Mischling Johann &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mischling Johann &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mischling Johann &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mischling Johann &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mischling Johann &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mischling Johann &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mischling Johann &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mischling Johann &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
