Missus

Female · Senior · 10 years

Missus is looking for a home where she can enjoy plenty of company, affection, and a comfortable spot on the sofa! Despite being 10 years old, she's still full of life and loves being involved in whatever her people are doing. Her ideal adopters will enjoy having a dog who loves attention and companionship. Missus thrives when she's around her family, so any time spent home alone will need to be introduced gradually to help her settle into her new routine. Missus would be happiest as the only pet in the home. She can find other dogs a little overwhelming, so she'll need owners who can help manage her interactions and provide access to quieter walking areas where she can feel more relaxed. She travels well in the car, making her a great companion for days out and adventures, but she's equally content spending an evening cuddled up beside her favourite people on the sofa. Missus does have ongoing allergies which are managed with medication, and her foster team will be happy to discuss her care requirements with potential adopters. Meet Missus, our super sweet 10 year old Boxer. Don't let her age fool you though, Missus is a young girl at heart! This lovely Boxer is bursting with personality and has a tail that never seems to stop wagging. Friendly, sweet, and always ready for fuss and attention, Missus has a way of making everyone she meets smile. In fact, she's so cheerful that she even greets the vet with a waggy tail! Missus loves spending time with her people and thrives on companionship. Whether she's playing, enjoying some attention, or simply relaxing beside her foster carers, she's happiest when she's part of the action. When it's time to settle down, you'll usually find her curled up on the sofa in her favourite spot which she has proudly claimed as her own! She's also a fantastic traveler and is more than happy to hop into the car for adventures, days out, or visits with family and friends. Missus can find other dogs a little overwhelming and would be happiest as the only pet in the household with access to quieter walking areas. As Missus loves being around her people, any time spent home alone will need to be built up gradually in her new home. Her adopters should be prepared to help her settle into a new routine at a pace she's comfortable with. Missus does have some ongoing allergies and takes medication to help keep her comfortable. The foster team will be happy to discuss her care and routine in more detail with potential adopters. If you're looking for a loving companion with a big heart, a waggy tail, and plenty of cuddles to give, please fill out an application below for Missus and don't forget to "favourite" her"!

About Missus

What life with Missus looks like

Missus is a large senior dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ballymena in Ballymena.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Missus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Missus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ballymena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Missus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Missus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ballymena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Missus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Missus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ballymena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Missus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
