Mochi

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Mochi is from a state shelter in Romania. We took him out to make room and prevent the capacity limit from being reached. When shelters are full, the dogs there are at risk of being euthanized. Since then, Mochi has been living in a Romanian foster home and showing what a friendly and outgoing male he is. Mochi is very attached to people. He is cheerful and enthusiastic around familiar people and also approaches strangers with interest. Mochi is also social with other dogs. He is curious, seeks contact and lives without problems with other dogs on his foster home. Mochi is also curious about cats. Aggressive behavior towards them has not been observed so far. However, a coexistence with cats would still need to be built up slowly and responsibly. Mochi can be touched and physically examined and shows himself to be generally willing to learn and adaptable. Despite all these positive qualities, one must be aware that Mochi is not yet familiar with the life that awaits him in Germany in many areas. An everyday life in a house or apartment, house training, fixed routines, walks, leash training, traffic, household noises, keeping quiet and also being alone can be things that need to be worked on with him. Therefore, we are looking for people who do not expect Mochi to "work" from day one. He needs time, patience and people who are willing to give him security and work with him step by step to build up all that is part of a normal everyday life in Germany. Mochi brings a wonderful foundation for this. He is friendly, social, interested and wants to learn. Now all he needs is the people who are willing to go this way with him. Mochi is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, dewormed and dewormed and will be placed with a deposit of 495 euros against a deposit after a positive preliminary inspection.

About Mochi

What life with Mochi looks like

Mochi is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mochi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mochi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mochi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mochi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mochi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mochi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein SpecialDogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mochi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
