Mogli

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 9 years

Mogli is a five-year-old black tomcat who lost his home because his people could no longer find the time to take proper care of him. This is something that the sensitive and affectionate Mogli clearly struggles with. Normally, he is as loving and cuddly as his nature dictates, but only when everything in his world is in order. Currently, however, it is not. He suffers from having lost his familiar home, he suffers from the company of other cats in "his" room, he suffers from lack of stimulation, and he suffers from jealousy. Thus, Mogli is suffering quite a bit right now, which makes him rather unstable. He is delighted when someone takes care of him, but if things do not go as he would like – other cats push themselves between him and his affection object, he dislikes someone, he does not want to be photographed, or he feels otherwise cornered – he might lash out. Essentially, he is just trying to say that he does not feel well in his current situation. His conflict and unease are evident. Nevertheless, there are people who prefer to avoid him due to his perceived unpredictability. A classic case of misunderstanding, indeed. But we are confident: With the right people, Mogli will soon reveal himself as the clever, affectionate, and extremely lovable cat personality that currently waits just beneath the surface of his agitated exterior. For this, the sensitive tomcat needs a quiet home with understanding people who can provide what has been missing in his life and what he misses so much: peace and reliability. Cat experience is beneficial as Mogli is easy for knowledgeable people to read. During his less pleasant moments, one should set boundaries by letting him retreat, without further unsettling him through loud scolding. Once he gets accustomed to his new surroundings and understands that he can rely on his people, he will calm down on his own. His humans must have the patience to give him the necessary time. Other animals and (small) children should not live in the household. After an adjustment period, Mogli requires secure outdoor access. Further information: 0157 – 52 68 76 61.

DE·Show original

Weitere Informationen: 0157 – 52 68 76 61.

About Mogli

What life with Mogli looks like

Mogli is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mogli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mogli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mogli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mogli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mogli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mogli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mogli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
