Mogli

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 9 years

Mogli is a nine-year-old, beautiful tiger cat who was placed with us as a kitten along with his brother. Unfortunately, the two kittens developed very differently over time, at least in terms of their dominance: Mogli became increasingly the victim of bullying by his much more confident brother. Now he has returned to us and hopes for a home where he is the center of attention and does not have to share love or attention with other animals. Exactly those characteristics that prevent him from asserting himself against a dominant animal make gentle Mogli a real dream cat for his people: He is sweet, affectionate, very human-oriented and not at all boastful. He likes to play with his humans, loves cuddle blankets and cozy dens. In new situations he is uncertain and therefore initially somewhat shy. When he is stressed, which was increasingly the case in his previous home, he retreats. His new family should give Mogli some time to get to know the individual members and the new environment at their own pace. He needs retreat places where he can be sure that he will always and absolutely be left alone - but these places are needed by every cat anyway, they are just a bit more important than for a more confident animal. Since he is very human-oriented and affectionate as mentioned above, the phase of acclimatization will probably be very short. And when he has thawed, Mogli will definitely enrich the lives of his new people. Because the handsome fellow is a very sweet and in the right environment also very easy to care for cat, he can certainly move into a beginner's cat. The condition is that it is a rather quiet household where Mogli is not confronted with new people or situations every day. A hectic everyday life is definitely nothing for the sensitive cat boy. Once Mogli has settled in, he needs safe outdoor access. Further information: 0157 - 52 68 76 61.

DE·Show original

Weitere Informationen: 0157 – 52 68 76 61.

About Mogli

What life with Mogli looks like

Mogli is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mogli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mogli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mogli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mogli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mogli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mogli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mogli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
