Mollie

Border Collie Β· Female Β· Young Β· 1 year

Mollie is a shy, gentle girl with a super clever brain, so she'd appreciate lots of mental stimulation in the form of brain games and other outlets more specific to her breed. She can be nervous around new people so she'll need to approach at her own pace, but she forms strong bonds with people that she knows and trusts. She is not overly fond of lots of fuss, as she does like her own space, so her adopters should be willing to give her the patience she needs to form a relationship with them on her own terms. Mollie enjoys the company of other dogs here in the centre and has fun with some off-lead play in secure compounds, although Mollie should be kept on lead when in public. She eats very well and really enjoys her treats, and loves playing with toys or novel items that provide her with some enrichment. For people willing to give Molly the love and time she needs to settle and grow in confidence, she will be a wonderful addition to the home. Meet Mollie, a young Kelpie x Collie cross who will need to go to a quiet, adult-only home. Mollie could benefit from living with another dog in the home, provided they are calm and confident, and they will need a successful pre-adoption mix. Molly has previously lived on a farm so is familiar with other animals, so she could potentially live with other animals in the home too. She will need to continue her training in her new home and will benefit from committed, patient adopters who are willing to put in the time to help her gain confidence and learn things at her own pace. Molly will need to have areas of the house where she can retreat to when things get a bit overwhelming so an open plan house would not suit her, and she will need access to a secure private garden. We have no history of Mollie being left alone, so we'd recommend minimal leaving hours initially to help her get accustomed, and as she can struggle to get comfortable with new things, she would prefer minimal visitation initially from new people.

About Mollie

What life with Mollie looks like

Mollie is a young adult border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mollie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mollie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mollie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mollie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mollie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mollie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mollie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
