Molly

English Bulldog · Female · Adult · 7 years

Hello, Molly here! I've been at the animal shelter for over a year now, waiting for the right people. Maybe I'm your dream dog? As an Old English Bulldog, I am a real powerhouse and know how to use my strength. I am friendly with everyone, but I do tend to exhibit ruff behavior, especially when I get too excitable. Here at the animal shelter, I'm learning that you can communicate well without being a powerhouse. I would like to continue practicing this in my new home. A loving but consistent upbringing is therefore a prerequisite if you want to adopt me. If that is given, my behavior is very manageable, and I quickly understand that the strongest doesn't always get to be in charge. Just as wonderful as I am with people, I am reluctant to have fellow animals nearby. Unfortunately, there was also a biting incident with another dog in the past, which is why I am now only allowed out on a muzzle and leash. But that does not confine me. Here at the animal shelter, I regularly train calm behavior in dog interactions. If you consistently guide me, I always manage to stay more relaxed. Without guidance, I handle these situations myself and can sometimes bark at other dogs. Breed-wise, I also come with a few aches and pains, especially my back gives me trouble sometimes. Thanks to my veterinarians, I am medicated well, so I can participate in my normal everyday life without problems. While I am not a sports champion, I do love to run in the garden without a leash, which is not good for my back. Sometimes I need to be held back. Calm walks where I can explore the surroundings are better for me. So I am looking for a quiet home without other animals, but with loving, consistent people who can set boundaries without fostering my ruff behavior. If the potential veterinary costs are the only thing deterring you, I would also be happy to come to you as a permanent foster dog. Then the ongoing costs will be covered by the animal shelter. I look forward to meeting you!

Hallo, Molly hier! Da muss man mich manchmal etwas bremsen. Eure Molly

About Molly

What life with Molly looks like

Molly is a large adult english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Molly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Molly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Molly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Molly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Molly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Molly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Molly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
