Molly

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Molly, a large female dog, is looking for a loving home. She was born around April 2022 and is estimated to be between 70-79 cm tall and weigh 25-29 kg. Molly comes from a killing station in Romania, where she was very weak and slept a lot. We explain how dogs end up there and more in our animal welfare FAQ. In the shelter, Molly is a friendly and calm dog who is open to people. She enjoys being petted and relaxing in their presence. During an outing outside the kennel, she was calm, walked quietly on a leash, and explored her surroundings mainly with her nose. She is currently less interested in playing - she prefers to observe quietly and relax in the shade. Molly seems to be generally compatible with other dogs. However, she currently shows territorial behavior at the kennel gate and barks at passing dogs. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home that understands her body language and accompanies her confidently. We suspect that Molly is a livestock guardian dog (HSH). Please inform yourself here about the requirements for adopting a livestock guardian dog. HSH mixes are often very independent and need confident leadership. Due to her size and possible livestock guardian dog components, Molly is looking for a ground-level home with a securely fenced garden. Molly is looking for dog-experienced people who will give her a lot of patience and love. We want people who are aware that animal shelter dogs bring a certain history with them. We can never predict in the shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That's why we're looking for people who have patience, perseverance, and goodwill. But one thing is certain: whoever adopts instead of buys not only gives a second chance to an animal, but also actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already in love? Send us a self-disclosure! Adoption If you are thinking about adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea-treated, and neutered before departure (except for puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any questions, please send a message to our placement team.

About Molly

What life with Molly looks like

Molly is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Molly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Molly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Molly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Molly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Molly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Molly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Molly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
