Adopt Monchichi

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Friendly, playful, attentive, people-oriented VIDEO Update September 2024: Monchichi has developed into an open-minded dog. In the pack he is very popular and plays a lot with the other dogs. Monchichi does not like hectic movements. This makes him very insecure and he tends to run after people and also nibble their legs. This does not happen in a quiet environment. He can be very cuddly and clingy. Also with children, if they are older. His story: Our mixed breed Monchichi was found on the streets of Kilkis. Before that, he had been observed from a distance for about three months until animal welfare workers from the area were informed. The local helpers did everything they could and fed him repeatedly, but quickly realized that due to his underdeveloped hind legs he needed more affection. Monchichi has not had many good experiences in his short life aside from the obvious injury to his hind legs, so he reacts very shyly and fearfully towards other people. Usually he withdraws to observe everything from a distance. If someone unfamiliar comes too close, he starts barking. Monchichi reacts to fast movements and chaos, which is why he bites then. Therefore, he would not be suitable for a household with children. He is compatible with other animals, so he spends his time in the pack with other dogs from the animal shelter. Since he gets along well in the pack, he is not excluded as a second dog, but the compatibility with others should be tested. Despite his deformity and broken hind legs, he is very quick when it comes to defending his territory against new two-legged beings. He manages small hills and steps in his own way, but this should be avoided to protect his legs. Ideally, he needs a ground-floor home. Monchichi needs a quiet retreat where he can take all the time he needs to regain trust in people and rediscover the world. They are all vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU passport. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog we place makes room for one of the dogs that live in hunger and emaciation. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Monchichi

What life with Monchichi looks like

Monchichi is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Monchichi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Monchichi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Monchichi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Monchichi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Monchichi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Monchichi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Monchichi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
