Monet

Podenco · Male

Monet was in a perrera in Malaga when our team went to visit. He seemed a little shut down, and as an older boy we really wanted to give him a chance. One of our wonderful fosters agreed to take him in — and just two weeks later they were back to collect him. Since arriving in foster, Monet has absolutely blossomed. It’s as though he has always lived there. He is a calm, gentle boy who gets along beautifully with the other dogs in the home. He has shown a bit too much interest in the cats and chickens though, so he wouldn’t be suitable to live with them in his forever home. Monet is incredibly affectionate with his foster mum and loves nothing more than a cuddle. Based on his easy-going nature, we think he could adapt well to many different home environments — whether that’s city or rural living, a flat or a house with a garden. He could live happily as an only dog or alongside other dogs. He really is a wonderful example of what we love about this breed. Despite whatever he may have experienced in the past, Monet is taking everything in his stride and showing just how resilient and adaptable Podencos can be. He is thriving in his foster home and is now ready to find a family of his own. Monet is neutered, vaccinated and snap tested negative for Mediterranean diseases - we are in the process of re-testing him in full. He is passported and available for adoption now. About Monet

What life with Monet looks like

Monet is a adult podenco dog waiting at Hope for Podencos in Albacete.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Monet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Monet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Podencos handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Monet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Monet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Podencos will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Monet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Monet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Podencos early rather than rehoming privately; they know Monet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
