Moose

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Senior · 9 years

Moose would love a calm, patient home where she can build her confidence at her own pace. She's looking for someone who will enjoy spending quality time with her and help her discover the world, as she hasn't had much experience with it before. Building up her enrichment skills will help keep her mind busy and boost her confidence. Moose will also need some reinforcement with her toilet training, as she can occasionally have accidents overnight. She may be able to live with another dog, a dog that could match her personality, pending meet, however, this is completely new experience for her, so a little management would help create a great relationship between the dogs. With patience, understanding and lots of love, Moose will make a wonderfully loyal companion. Meet Moose, a lovely 9 year old Jack Russell Terrier looking for a calm, loving retirement home. She may be a little shy and bark when she first meets you, but once she knows you're a friend, she adores gentle neck and belly rubs. Moose enjoys a quiet potter on the lead and would much rather snuggle up than go on long walks. She's lived around young children and could happily live with secondary school children and above. She isn't motivated by food, but bring out a soft squeaky toy and spend some time with her, and you'll soon have her heart. Moose came into our care through no fault of her own after her owner's ill health, and now she's hoping for a second chance with a family to call her own.

About Moose

What life with Moose looks like

Moose is a senior jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moose, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moose?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moose on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moose if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moose already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moose isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moose and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
