Moro

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Moro is a young boy, just a year old, of medium size and weighing around 12 kilograms. He is cheerful, playful, active and always ready for a new adventure. He loves exercise, exploration and play, and he definitely has plenty of energy. He has just one small problem. He is black as night. It may sound insignificant, but black dogs in shelters often have a harder time attracting the attention of potential adopters. While someone's gaze lingers on a fluffy, colorful or unusual dog, they like Moro can easily remain just another black face behind the fence. And it would be a great pity if someone doesn't notice the dog hiding beneath the fur because of its color. Moro is young, cheerful and full of life. We are looking for active people who want a dog that will accompany them on walks, trips and everyday adventures. With enough activity, a little training and his people by his side, he has all the prerequisites to become an excellent life companion. At 12 kilograms, he is just the right size to go almost everywhere with you. He may not be the first dog you notice in the photo. But give him a chance in person because Moro is much more than just another black dog in the shelter. GENDER: M

HR·Show original

About Moro

What life with Moro looks like

Moro is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Azil Dubrovnik in Croatia.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Azil Dubrovnik handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Azil Dubrovnik will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Azil Dubrovnik early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
