Moro

Mixed Breed · Male

Everyone of us knows one of these wonderful Labrador retrievers. Always smiling (often in connection with a ball or even several balls), always looking for cuddles and having an affinity for cookies that is unmatched. A classic example from the category of these clowns is now appearing on your monitors. Moro is not a purebred Labrador (his nose is a bit too knobby), but he is a textbook Labrador on the inside. The lovable, slightly six-year-old (as of 02/2022) gentleman was dropped off by his owner at the Perrera just before Christmas, like an old piece of furniture on the rubbish dump. Unfortunately, there is no information about the background or reasons for the surrender, as is usually the case in such situations. However, Moro was incredibly lucky that our friends in Huelva regularly go through the dark corridors of the state kennels to give dogs like Moro a chance. After two months behind bars, without sunlight and with little contact with people, the now so lively male dog was initially a bit shy, but now this cheerful charcoal-like creature simply shows his golden retriever heart. Moro has quickly found two- and four-legged friends in the small facility of Dolmen Animal. He enjoys playing with his fellow animals in the yard, but is even more excited when a volunteer picks him up for a walk. Moro is eager to learn and already knows many things from the daily life of a family dog. At the moment, Moro is still a bit unsure when confronted with strangers or when his friends leave after spending time together - he probably needs to relearn trust, but as mentioned, Moro is an extremely teachable student, with the most grateful and happiest Labrador smile you can imagine. Moro is looking for an active, humorous family that wants to give a real comedian like him a second chance. Children are absolutely fine for our clown, but they should be of an age that allows them to understand that the new family member might need some time to adjust to the new home. Moro likes to make friendships at his own pace... then immerse himself deeply into a great relationship, with the promise of never being left behind again.

DE·Show original

About Moro

What life with Moro looks like

Moro is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
