adoption requirements adoption process Ask about this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Ask about this cat now! Morticia is a delicate young cat who cautiously meets new people. She is shy with strangers, but once trust is established, she opens her heart. She has already formed a close bond with her foster mother, actively seeks closeness, and even sleeps in the bed with her. With her quiet, gentle nature, she brings a lot of calm and sensitivity - ideal for a relaxed, loving home. Her past was not easy: Morticia was found on the street and fought a severe eye infection. Despite treatment, the left eye could not be saved and had to be removed. She copes very well with this, moves confidently, and is completely unaffected in daily life. For Morticia we are looking for a home that gives her time to settle in and where she feels safe. A quiet environment, reliable structures, and patient people help her continue to flourish. Morticia tested positive for FIV. This is no reason to decide against her if you have fallen in love with her. FIV is a virus that weakens the immune system, but FIV-positive cats can lead as long and fulfilling a life as those who test negative. The virus is exclusively transmitted to cats - humans and other animals are not at risk. Transmission would only be possible through deep bite wounds. Therefore, it is possible to live together, eat together, and cuddle with compatible cats. Free ranging is not an option due to her weakened immune system, as the risk of infections would be too high. Morticia has been vet-checked, dewormed, spayed, treated for fleas, microchipped, and is FIV positive, but without symptoms. One eye is missing, which does not hinder her in daily life. Her EU pet passport is available. After a positive adoption, whoever adopts Morticia gains a quiet, affectionate companion who becomes a valuable family member with trust and time. A heartfelt thanks goes to her godmother Ker Wa, who made it possible for her to find a better life. Status: 21.11. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Morticia

What life with Morticia looks like

Morticia is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Morticia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Morticia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Morticia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Morticia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Morticia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Morticia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Morticia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
