Adopt Morzsa

Dachshund · Male

Breed: Dachshund-mixed-breed male dog Age: Born around 11/2017 Aloha to everyone! I am Morzsa … a little pup and a Dachshund-mixed-breed male dog in my young adult years. I have short brownish-red fur, with a few black freckles around my snout and a shiny black tongue. My ear outfit is what you might call a "burner": one is floppy and the other perks up sideways. Please don't imitate me … I worry you might hurt your ears. Additionally, I have bright brown eyes that attest to how lively I am. I have a bit of Dachshund-like pizzazz, am communicative but also a heart full of four paws that loves to snuggle and cuddle. I love being in human society, sticking my nose into everything, and taking in what the world offers. I get along famously with the female dogs, and the boys are fifty-fifty my buddies (sometimes I butt in with male dogs). The caretakers report that I don't cause any problems here and have a good behavior record. I was given up by my old family at the our shelter because they claimed I bit the children. Whether that's true or not is up to the stars, but I haven't exhibited such behavior here. I'm looking for active people who are up for doing a lot with me. I want to run, dart, dig … in short, have fun. On the side, I would be delighted to get some input for my little head, to learn the dog alphabet, and to be given tasks. This is important not only to keep me occupied but also to establish a proper obedience that hopefully won't be free-range later. I yearn for love and security, to be the treasure in someone's life, and to be able to stay there for life! I don't go for short-term relationships, by the way. Everything else will fall into place later if the right attitude is there, which is something I already have. In this spirit: Roger and over, Before I travel to my new home, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you wish to adopt me, please contact my facilitators.

About Morzsa

What life with Morzsa looks like

Morzsa is a small adult dachshund dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Morzsa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Morzsa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Morzsa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Morzsa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Morzsa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Morzsa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Morzsa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
