Mousey

Female · Puppy · 2 months

A newborn kitten was left alone in late July, in the midst of summer. Another orphan kitten. How do we know it was left without its mother? Every mother is programmed by biology to respond to the cries of her little one. Even in animals, the mother is always nearby. So, when our colleagues hear a plaintive "meow-meow" from the bushes, they first give the mother a chance to return to her baby. They monitor the situation from a safe distance, so as not to scare her away or lure the kitten further. A meowing kitten is not always abandoned. But here, several hours had passed. The kitten was still alone and crying for food. The mother would have returned for that long... if she could. The little note they found in the grass was only 2 days old and weighed 90 grams - as big as a mouse. So she got the name Mousi. Little Mousi was dehydrated, but rescued in time. Several weeks followed of feeding with adapted milk for a newborn kitten. The exhausting night shifts of feeding every 3 hours passed slowly. But thanks to the extraordinary work of our dedicated volunteers, Mousi grew. The teeth finally broke through and she could eat solid food. She had emerged from the critical period of nursing, but there were still several weeks to the first vaccine. Then the kitten faced another challenge. A routine examination found parasites that would slow things down. Thanks to good care, warmth and regular feeding - little Mousi passed through the infection without symptoms. With the right therapy, she quickly recovered. Mousi is currently in a foster home, where she is socialized. But she cannot stay and is urgently looking for permanent owners. She has developed good hygiene habits from an early age. She is used to being stroked, playing. She gets along with children, dogs, cats. She has even seen a chicken live once. Wow! In short - a young cosmopolitan lady with a bright future. Support our work so we can continue to help animals like Mousi by following this link. Sofia 1000 ul. About Mousey

What life with Mousey looks like

Mousey is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at Four Paws Bulgaria (ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ) in Sofia.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇧🇬Adopting from Bulgaria

Bulgarian shelters typically include full vet workup, sterilization, and passport. Many coordinate with EU rescue partners for direct transport to adopter cities in Germany, Netherlands, and Austria.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mousey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mousey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Four Paws Bulgaria (ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mousey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mousey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Four Paws Bulgaria (ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mousey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mousey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Four Paws Bulgaria (ЧЕТИРИ ЛАПИ) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mousey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (BG). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
