Mr Potato

Mixed Breed · Female

AGE: 2.5 years (potentially younger) BREED: Old Tyme Bulldog IDEAL HOME: a home with a garden LIVING WITH CHILDREN: I could live with children 13 years plus LIVING WITH DOGS: I could potentially live with another well socialised female dog of similar age LIVING WITH CATS: I’ve never lived with cats Mr Potato is a young Old Tyme Bulldog looking for his forever home. Mr Potato is an absolute baby boy with the cutest personality. After being rescued by a kind member of the public, he was found in an awful state—he was nothing but skin and bones. Thankfully, with plenty of love, care, and rehabilitation, he made a fantastic recovery before coming into our care to begin his search for the loving home he truly deserves. Since arriving at the rescue, Mr Potato has been an absolute sweetheart. His playful antics have had us all in stitches, and his cheeky, fun-loving character shines through every single day. He is full of affection and enjoys nothing more than spending time with the people who care for him. Mr Potato can be a little wary of some men when he first meets them, which is understandable given his difficult start in life. However, he has never shown any signs of aggression. When he feels unsure, he simply chooses to back away rather than confront the situation. With a little patience, kindness, and a few tasty treats, he soon realises he's safe and quickly warms to people, revealing the affectionate, goofy boy we all know and love. Mr Potato has loved walking with the other dogs at the centre and is always keen to interact with them. He can get rather boisterous when he wants to play, so any introductions to resident dogs should be carried out carefully. He is a strong boy on the lead and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training to improve his loose-lead walking as he grows in confidence and maturity. As a young dog, Mr Potato loves being out exploring and will need an active family who can provide him with plenty of daily walks, enrichment, and mental stimulation. Puzzle toys, training sessions, and interactive play will all help keep his clever mind occupied while strengthening the bond with his new family. Old Tyme Bulldogs are well known for being loyal, affectionate, and people-orientated dogs who thrive on companionship. They are often playful clowns with a loving nature and enjoy being involved in family life. Like all dogs, they benefit from consistent, reward-based training and ongoing socialisation to help them become well-rounded companions. As an Old Tyme Bulldog, Mr Potato's new family should also be aware of the breed's general care requirements. Maintaining a healthy weight is important to reduce unnecessary strain on his joints, and regular, moderate exercise will help keep him fit and happy. Routine veterinary care, a balanced diet, and keeping an eye on his skin, ears, and any facial wrinkles (if present) will help him stay in great condition throughout his life. Mr Potato has overcome such a difficult start in life without losing his wonderful spirit. Now all he needs is a loving family who will continue to guide him, spoil him, and give him the forever home he has waited so patiently for. Interested in adopting Mr Potato? Call or contact us.

About Mr Potato

What life with Mr Potato looks like

Mr Potato is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at SARA Ann Prosser Foundation in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mr Potato, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mr Potato?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SARA Ann Prosser Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mr Potato on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mr Potato if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SARA Ann Prosser Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mr Potato already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mr Potato isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SARA Ann Prosser Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mr Potato and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
