Mufasa

German Shepherd Β· Male Β· Senior Β· 13 years

We are so happy to introduce to you Mufasa, a kind, gentle soul with a heart of gold. Mufasa has been in RSPCA care for a long time now due to an ongoing investigation. Court proceedings have now concluded and Mufasa can now find his very own forever home. Mufasa is a distinguished senior gentleman looking for a quiet place to call his forever home. We have found him to be the sweetest, most polite boy you will ever meet. He may have a little grey on his muzzle and a slower pace in his step, but his heart is as big as ever. Due to his background Mufasa has missed out on so much but is now ready to make up for lost time. He is a happy lad who wears his heart on his sleave, if you love him, he will love you double back. He may not have lots of years left to give you, but he promises to give you every single ounce of the love he has been saving up. He is as loyal as they come and will be your best friend and loyal companion if you give him that chance. Mufasa has spent some time in foster with a member of staff so we have been able to get some information about him in a home environment. Mufasa will need adopters who are at home with him most of the time, he can become distressed sometimes when he is on his own, so having someone with him most of the time is unfortunately non negotiable. We can not change Mufasa's past but we can help rewrite his future, if you have a big German Shepherd hole in your heart then look no further, Mufasa is ready, willing and waiting to fill that hole. Mufasa is suitable to live with another dog of similar size after a successful meet at the centre and could live with children aged 13 years and over. Mufasa is on pain relief for his joints which will be ongoing.

About Mufasa

What life with Mufasa looks like

Mufasa is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at RSPCA York Home in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mufasa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mufasa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA York Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mufasa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mufasa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA York Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mufasa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mufasa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA York Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mufasa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
