Adopt Musk

Mixed Breed · Male

Description Our Spanish animal welfare workers report: our dear Musk with the sweet “sunspots” on his white snout did not have a nice life before our animal welfare workers finally freed him. For far too long, the male dog had to endure life on a chain, and it was finally made possible for Musk to be freed from his owners’ chain restraint and taken into protective custody. The friendly male dog lived day by day only on the chain, leading a sad existence. Musk could hardly believe his luck: his suffering was finally seen, and after all these years, the lovable mixed-breed male dog with the speckled, elephant-ear-sized ears was freed from his monotony! After Musk was finally allowed to move into our partner animal shelter, he initially showed fear towards men; thus, we suspect that Musk may have also been mistreated. Over time, our volunteer helpers managed to take Musk for walks and even play with him, and the cautious male dog gradually grew more trusting and began to trust his engaged walking companions. He sensed that here he is safe, help is given, and most importantly, he can be free, run, sniff, play, jump, dash across fields, and play with sticks and grass. Musk smelled flowers for the first time, felt how soft moss feels under his paws, how the pleasant warmth of morning sunlight feels on his short fur, and could explore the world with his snout! Musk realized that dog life can be so beautiful, but the animal shelter caregivers unfortunately lack the time. Therefore, the medium-sized male dog now wants to move into a loving home where he can experience the security of his own family for the first time, as a family member. Musk is friendly with fellow animals and may also be friendly with cats; at first, he sometimes pulls a bit on the leash when excited to be allowed to walk, but if he realizes he no longer needs to worry about his regular walks, this will likely soon subside. Please note:. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Musk

What life with Musk looks like

Musk is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Musk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Musk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Musk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Musk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Musk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Musk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Musk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
