Oso

Mixed Breed · Male

Origin: Linares (Andalusia) Location: Linares (Andalusia) Size/Weight: approx. 30 cm shoulder height at approx. 3.8 kg Other: neutered, microchipped with EU ID, vaccinated and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases Character: still a little shy and unsure, but seeks contact with humans and wants to be stroked, gets along with fellow animals, has probably not encountered many environmental stimuli yet New Home: natural environment, people with dog experience, ideally with only a dog, but not a must! Patience and the willingness to gently train! Placement Fee: 490 Euro incl. transport costs to Germany Thanks to kind people who have donated a "ticket out of hell," we were able to save the lives of some dogs, and the cute, but still somewhat shy little spitz now finally has a name and a chance at a beautiful dog life. Oso comes from an unseriöse puppy breeding in southern Spain – in desolate small cages or pens, dogs are kept there, often neglected and without any affection. Those who are no longer "useful" – for whatever reason or have passed the puppy age and are no longer as marketable – are mercilessly sorted out. These dogs are only means to an end! Now, the picture-perfect little dwarf from the breeder's pen has been moved to the Spanish rescue station. There, he receives all necessary vaccinations and is neutered – a small but first step on the path to a new, better life. Osos' gaze touches no one – eyes speak more than a thousand words. His soft, black round eyes reveal much: sadness, insecurity, but also a great deal of longing for love and fun. What Oso now wishes for? Simply to be happy, finally find inner peace, and be truly loved. Despite everything this little dog has experienced, he shows a fair amount of openness and approachability towards humans. He patiently lets everything happen. Although a little insecurity is still present, he is always friendly and open to every caress. He gets along very well with other dogs and is absolutely social. We are looking for a loving forever home for this charming young pup – with empathetic, dog-experienced people, with a little patience, a lot of time, and even more heart, ideally in a not too hectic, natural environment. We are looking for people who want to show a little being, which has been disappointed by life so far, that there is also kindness, warmth, and security, and that the world outside can be so beautiful. If you can imagine giving Oso a new chapter full of adventure, affection, and security, we are very looking forward to your message. Please describe your living situation briefly in your inquiry: who belongs to the family, how you live, how does your weekday routine look, do you have dog experience? These details help us a lot in finding the right family for the little treasure. His new family should also be ready to personally receive him in North Bavaria – that is the place where all our Spanish rescues arrive. Thank you for having a heart for the forgotten souls of this world – maybe the cute Oso is already a part of your life soon? Was Oso sich nun wünscht? About Oso

What life with Oso looks like

Oso is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oso, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oso?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oso on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oso if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oso already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oso isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oso and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
