Adopt Tulsa

Podenco · Female · Young · 3 years

Origin/Location: Ubeda (Andalusia) Character: According to the Spanish caretakers, she is nice and friendly, initially shy with strangers, but very social with other dogs. The leash is still something of a mystery to her (yet). New Home: No expectations, active people with lots of time and the willingness to provide gentle, loving training and appropriate stimulation, in a rural or suburban area (not a big city) with a securely fenced dog-safe yard, preferably for a second dog or small pack, not for first-time dog owners. Placement Fee: 450 Euro incl. transport Tulsa is a charming female dog born in November 2023. With a shoulder height of 48 cm and a weight of 14 kg, she is a delightful companion. At the animal shelter in Ubeda/Southern Spain, she shares a pen with other Podencos and shows herself to be extremely social and friendly towards fellow animals. She is accustomed to dog society and loves to play and run with other dogs. Initially, Tulsa is cautious around strangers, but she has already built a close bond with her caretakers. She is affectionate, giving kisses and enjoying cuddles. As she hasn’t been around many people yet, the leash is still somewhat unfamiliar to her, but she is practicing diligently so she can soon explore the world outside the animal shelter. The most important thing for Tulsa is the company of other dogs, and she would be happy with a home with a securely fenced dog-safe yard, preferably in a rural setting.

Herkunft / Standort: Ubeda (Andalusien) Charakter: lt. About Tulsa

What life with Tulsa looks like

Tulsa is a medium-sized young adult podenco dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tulsa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tulsa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tulsa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tulsa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tulsa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tulsa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tulsa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
