adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Mykelti has found a home! His story: Are you a person who can give a little dachshund-mix a beautiful dog life? Mykelti lives at the Baia Mara shelter and seemed to have given up on a happy life. Unfortunately, we know nothing about his background. At first, Mykelti was very insecure and mistrustful of people. Now, he has completely changed and is very friendly to everyone. His caregiver loves him more than anything and can hardly contain her joy when she comes to him. He also gets along very well with other dogs. Mykelti will likely need some time to adjust to his new environment and get used to his new life. But once he does, he loves his people very much. Mykelti is otherwise active and not a dog who only wants to lie on the sofa. Of course, it would be ideal if we could find a new forever home for Mykelti directly. But even an experienced foster home would greatly ease his transition into a better life. Mykelti is about 3 years old and only about 30 cm tall. With his short, tri-colored fur and beautiful, dark button eyes, he is a very cute little dog. And he has his whole life ahead of him. We do not want him to spend it in a kennel at the shelter! Mykelti is a good age and a practical size and does not have high expectations for his new home. He does not need a large yard or dog sports; he needs human-friendly and loving people! He would be happy with a single person or a couple who has a lot of time for the little guy and does not have such high expectations of him right away. Maybe Mykelti has never lived in a house and has never heard of house training and leash walking. Unfortunately, we do not know that. But if you show him with a loving and consistent training style what rules an orderly house and family dog should follow, he will build security and trust and learn everything new. A visit to a positively working dog training class can also promote Mykeltis development and the bond to his new people. The little man can travel to his new home with an EU pet passport neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He is up for adoption. We would like to thank Silvie S., the namingsponsor, who gave Mykelti his name and thus an identity. A big thank you also goes to Alexandra A., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Mykelti. As of: 22.05.

Stand: 22.05.2024

About Mykelti

What life with Mykelti looks like

Mykelti is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mykelti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mykelti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mykelti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mykelti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mykelti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mykelti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mykelti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
