Adopt Nala

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 8 years

The friendly Stafford-Mix female dog was abused as a breeding dog in her previous life. Thankfully, that is now over.Nala is open with people and very clingy. She wants to please and tries to do everything right. She masters all common basic commands from the FF, is house-trained, and does well in the car. In a quiet environment, she goes for a loose leash walk and is also attentive and recallable in free run. Unfortunately, Nala does not like her fellow animals very much. If not clearly led, she can bark at dog encounters on the leash and find it hard to calm down. This can also lead to jumping bites towards her people. The muzzle belongs in Nala's inventory and should be seen as a positive tool to give her the opportunity to participate in normal life. With some sovereign male dogs, Nala can sometimes warm up when there is movement, but she can also slip into hunting behavior. This also applies to environmental stimuli like bicycles or similar. Here, Nala must be well led and secured. To not amplify her excessive prey drive, playing hunting games with Nala should be avoided. Concentration tasks and socially-oriented games help her to orient herself towards her people even in difficult situations. Health-wise, the pretty Blue-line female dog also has her work cut out for her. Due to the popular fur color, Nala, like many of her breed, has skin issues and suffers from both a food allergy and a pollen allergy. With the right food and seasonal doses of antihistamines, that does not cause her any problems. Nala's joints also cause her trouble, and she needs to take pain medication regularly, which she takes willingly. Nala is looking for a quiet home in the countryside without other animals and small children. Her future people should have some experience in dealing with reactive dogs and be both mentally and physically stable.

About Nala

What life with Nala looks like

Nala is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
