10.06.2026 Hello together, I am Nala – a curious, cuddly, and open-minded cat who loves spending time with her people and bravely exploring new situations. Currently, I live with my sister Biescha at a foster home. It has become clear there that we both prefer to have our own space. Therefore, I wish for a home where I can live as a single princess. I have not yet had the freedom to roam, but after a safe adjustment period, I could easily imagine exploring the outside world, as I love to sit by the window and curiously observe the birds and everything that moves outside. From the start, I was the more adventurous of the two. I quickly left my hiding spot to explore my surroundings. Now, I fully enjoy life at the foster home. I especially love lying on the sofa or in bed and letting my belly be rubbed. I am also more open to strangers now. I hardly hide anymore and am happy to be acquainted after a short time. A friend of my foster mom even got to cuddle with me – I thought that was really cool. Otherwise, I am a very uncomplicated roommate. I use my litter box reliably, scratch only at the designated scratching posts, and don't break anything. Maybe you've already fallen a little in love with me by looking at my pictures. I would be very happy to meet you. Nala __________ and Biescha were entrusted to us because it was no longer possible to do justice to the two sisters. They have lived so far in pure apartment suitability and are therefore still quite shocked to find themselves in a cat room at the animal shelter. Now, they can recover in a foster home and gather new courage. Once the two are a bit more outgoing, spaying will be in order, and they are looking for a home. Whether that will be a shared home or not will be shown at the foster home. Perhaps the sisters will want to go their separate ways in the future.

About Nala

What life with Nala looks like

Nala is a young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Mayen in Mayen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Mayen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Mayen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Mayen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
