Nala

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

by Kennels | Jun 22, 2026 | Dogs, Female, Liverpool, New Resident Liverpool, Dogs, Female, Liverpool, New Resident Nala came to us after her owner could unfortunately no longer care for her as they were being evicted. During her intake assessment, Nala demonstrated what a sweetheart she is: – She was comfortable greeting strangers and taking treats very gently. – She walked nicely on the lead. – She was very friendly with one of our dogs onsite and even tolerated Dior’s crazy zoomies. – She showed no guarding behaviours. – With a bit of coaxing she would play with toys but didn’t seem to fussed with them. As a breed, Chow Chows can be pretty aloof and hard to read. They’re often a slow burner, needing a little bit of time to get comfortable around people before being their full and best selves. They require specialist grooming to manage shedding and prevent matting. Especially as we are heading into what seems to be a very hot summer, it is important to consider how they respond to the heat. She is a picturesque princess. A real sweet dog, she is no trouble at all when walking on lead. She knows a few commands including ‘sit, paw and lie down’ so she’s pretty switched on. Initially, she seemed a bit hesitant having a collar put over her head but was fine with a harness. She has only been with us a few days and is still in her assessment period, once we are able to better assess her behaviour we will be able to match her to a suitable home. About Nala

What life with Nala looks like

Nala is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freshfields Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freshfields Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freshfields Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
