Nancy

Female Β· Senior Β· 11 years

Hello, my name is Nancy, and I am looking for a new furrever home. I sadly find myself at Raystede as my owner passed away and the other family members were no longer able to care for me. I have had a turbulent life and would love to find a lovely home to live out the rest of my golden years. My personality: I am an incredibly sweet older lady who just wants all the fusses and to snooze on a comfy bed. I am quite chatty and will greet you with lots of little chirps and meows, and will even sit on your lap once I feel more comfortable with you. I do like to spend time outside so would love access to a garden I can call my own. Children: I could live with sensible older children who are gentle with me. Other animals: I would prefer to be the only pet in the home please, as I am worried by dogs and cats. Additional needs: I have a lovely long coat that needs regular brushing to avoid matts forming. I came in to the cattery with a wound on my back which is healing well but it likely I will have a permanent scar and my fur may never grow back in that area. My new people will need to be careful to avoid this area while brushing me until it is fully healed. Could you offer me a loving retirement home? Love, Nancy xxx

About Nancy

What life with Nancy looks like

Nancy is a senior cat waiting at Raystede Centre in Ringmer.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues β€” keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nancy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nancy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nancy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nancy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Raystede Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Nancy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nancy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nancy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
