Naraku

Shiba Inu · Male · Senior · 11 years

Country of origin: Hungary Unfortunately, once again a senior dog who sadly ended up in the animal shelter in his old age. His name is Naraku and he has been at Menhely Kecskemét since March 14, 2026. He was found alone and abandoned near the shelter. He dug a hole and sought shelter in it. Fortunately, he was found. Naturally, a false alarm during the microchip check and the handsome one was not reported missing. We know nothing about his past, whether he was abandoned or ran away from home, but we hope that in the future he will only be on the sunny side of life and can spend his remaining years with dignity. As soon as possible, he would like to pack his bag and leave the shelter behind. The Menhely is probably better than his previous life, but it should not and must not be the end for Naraku, but much better. Because actually, he should be safe and secure in the circle of his family, but that has never been the case so far... Naraku is a quiet, kind and nice dog, but also cautious, somewhat shy and not pushy. Petting and attention are becoming more and more pleasant for him, which was probably lacking before. He never wants to miss this again. He does not need much action, but people who are there for him, dote on him, take him as he is and let him feel that he is loved and respected, maybe for the first time in his life. He likes human affection and has a lot of catching up to do. With the older four-legged dog bosses, it is usually the case that the demands on physical activities are not so high anymore, but the loving attention is enjoyed all the more, which also applies to Naraku. He gets along well with his own kind. We are urgently looking for loving dog friends for our dearest Naraku, who also give an elderly dog a chance and make the rest of his life as beautiful as possible. Naraku should not have to live in the animal shelter, but have a soft basket of his own, lots of cuddling and snuggling, relaxing walks through forest and field, and simply enjoy his life knowing that he is loved, protected and cared for. He wishes for a quiet home. Who will show Naraku how beautiful life can be? Due to his age, Naraku will no longer be neutered. Unfortunately, Naraku tested positive for heartworm and the slow kill therapy has been started. (May 2026) Naraku can travel from around mid to late May 2026, if he has found a home or a foster placement.

DE·Show original

About Naraku

What life with Naraku looks like

Naraku is a senior shiba inu dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Naraku, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Naraku?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Naraku on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Naraku if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Naraku already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Naraku isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Naraku and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
