Adopt Rémus

Shiba Inu · Male · Adult · 6 years

Personality: Rémus is shy and reserved during first meetings. Once comfortable, he becomes a loving and cheerful dog. Ideal environment and home: Rémus will thrive in a place ideally located in the countryside. For his well-being, he needs a family made up of adults only, capable of correctly interpreting his warning signals and respecting his space. Rémus can be alone for a few hours but will appreciate having very present people by his side. Required experience: Experience with dogs is required, and it will be a real advantage if his future family is familiar with primitive breeds. Compatibility: Rémus can get along with other dogs, provided that meetings are well prepared, well managed, and done with other animals of the same species that are calm and stable. Special needs: The home that welcomes him must be able to finely recognize his signs of discomfort. Rémus is subject to measures; he must always be leashed in public areas and must not come into contact with children, even on private property. If you think you can offer Rémus the good life he deserves, we would be delighted to meet you. In case of interest, please complete the online form "request - interest in adopting a dog". If the criteria explicitly required in the presentation texts of the dogs are not respected, no further action will be taken on the adoption request. Please also read our placement philosophy. About Rémus

What life with Rémus looks like

Rémus is a medium-sized adult shiba inu dog waiting at SPA Fribourg in Font.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rémus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rémus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Fribourg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rémus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rémus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Fribourg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rémus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rémus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Fribourg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rémus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
