At around two years old, he combines the intelligence and athleticism of a German Shepherd with the friendly, people-focused nature often seen in Labradors, making him a wonderful companion for an active home. He loves being out and about, exploring new places and enjoying everything the world has to offer. Friendly and affectionate, Nathan is happiest when he has people to spend time with and plenty of opportunities to exercise both his body and his mind. Nathan gets on well with other dogs and would enjoy an active lifestyle with owners who can give him the time, exercise and companionship he needs. His history before arriving in rescue is unknown, but he is now looking forward to a brighter future with a family who will love him for the wonderful dog he is. As with all rescue dogs, Nathan will need time to settle into his new home, but with patience, kindness and consistent guidance, we're confident he'll become a fantastic companion. He'll thrive with owners who can provide regular exercise, continued training and plenty of mental stimulation. Whether it's countryside walks, hiking, training sessions or simply being involved in everyday family life, Nathan is happiest when he has something to do. Because of his energy levels, he'd be best suited to a home where he won't be left alone for long periods and where his new family can continue helping him develop into a well-rounded adult dog. Breed Insight German Shepherd and Labrador mixes are often intelligent, loyal and eager to learn. They typically enjoy being active and form strong bonds with their families, making them wonderful companions for people who can provide both physical exercise and mental enrichment. Dogs with these breeds in their heritage usually thrive on positive, reward-based training and enjoy activities that allow them to use both their brains and their energy. With consistency, companionship and plenty of opportunities to explore, they often become devoted, affectionate family members. Please contact Angela on for more information.

About Nathan

What life with Nathan looks like

Nathan is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Rescue Me Dogs in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible โ€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" โ€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures โ€” to let them settle.

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งAdopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nathan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nathan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rescue Me Dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly โ€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nathan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nathan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad โ€” Rescue Me Dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra โ‚ฌ100โ€“โ‚ฌ350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nathan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported โ€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nathan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work โ€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rescue Me Dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nathan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect โ€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
