Adopt Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair

Male · Young · 3 years

ARLO & NELLY SUFFOLK, EAST OF ENGLAND Adoption fee £750 ARLO Male (Standard – 11kg) 3 years old Black and tan smooth coat Neutered NELLY Female (Standard but slightly smaller – 10kg) 2.5 years old Black and tan smooth coat Not neutered Arlo and Nelly are a gentle, bonded pair looking for a loving new home due to a change in their family’s circumstances, meaning they can no longer receive the time and attention they deserve. Both have been with their family since they were just 8 weeks old and are wonderful companions who would suit a family with children aged 10+, a couple or a single person. They enjoy walking together and are happiest in each other’s company. They currently have one meal in the evening, although Arlo tends to graze more slowly while Nelly is very food-motivated and will happily eat his food too, so they are best fed separately. At night, they sleep in the same room — Arlo in a pen and Nelly in a crate — and can comfortably be left alone for up to six hours a day. Arlo – Arlo is a sweet, affectionate boy who absolutely loves cuddles and attention. He can be slightly reactive on walks with dogs, especially around male dogs or when he is walking with Nelly, as he can become protective of her, though he has never shown aggression. He is not fully toilet trained, but with consistency and patience, this is something that should continue to improve. Arlo enjoys daily walks, though he doesn’t need quite as much exercise as Nelly, and one or two walks a day would suit him perfectly. He can occasionally try to mount Nelly, but she simply tolerates this and has never reacted negatively. He does experience separation anxiety, particularly when separated from Nelly, which can lead to toileting accidents and crying until she returns. Arlo is currently kept in a pen when unsupervised and excited for cuddles and love. Nelly – Nelly is a loving, happy girl who adores everyone she meets — people, dogs, and especially food! She enjoys long daily walks and would ideally like at least an hour of exercise each day. She has not yet been neutered and was last in season in February, so she is unlikely to come into season again before being neutered in her new home. As she is so food-focused, she will try to eat Arlo’s meals too, so feeding separately is important. Nelly currently sleeps in a crate at night, a routine that originally began while she was in season and simply continued afterwards. She would likely be perfectly happy sharing a space with Arlo. She can occasionally appear slightly sensitive on one of her front legs, but she has been checked by a vet and no issues were found. Nelly can be reactive towards other dogs when out walking, barking if they get too close, but she is not aggressive. At home, she is a wonderfully affectionate girl who loves curling up on the sofa for cuddles in the evening. If you feel you could offer Arlo and Nelly the stable, loving home they deserve and are ready for plenty of cuddles and companionship, please contact Requirements in a home – Children aged 10+ Preferably no other pets in the home Owners who enjoy daily long walks Understanding that they can be vocal/reactive around nearby dogs, though they are not aggressive

About Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair

What life with Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair looks like

Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair is a young adult dog waiting at The Red Foundation in Pentlow Street.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Red Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Red Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Red Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nelly & Arlo – Bonded Pair and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
