Nelo (m)

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Nelo, a little male dog, was born in May 2026 and currently lives in the northeast of Romania, in Botoșani, at the animal shelter of the private animal welfare association ADOR. Together with his sister, Nelo was found somewhere and eventually brought to the animal shelter. There, he was fortunate enough to be taken in and lovingly cared for by Dana. From the little foundling, a cheerful, friendly and human-oriented young dog has emerged. And Nelo has another great fortune: he does not have to spend his puppy time exclusively behind bars. He lives in a puppy group and is allowed to be outside with the others in the morning. After noon, it goes back to the puppy house. He knows the daily contact with people, receives affection and has learned that people mean something beautiful. Nelo is a rather gentle little male. Of course, he can also romp, play and have a lot of fun with the other puppies. But in contact with people, we experience him so far rather calm and careful. He enjoys the proximity, is happy about every caress and is simply a dear, pleasant little guy. Nelo also gets along wonderfully with other dogs. In his group, not only puppies live, but also some adult dogs - and there are no problems with them either. So he grows up well socialized in a mixed dog group. Of course, we would like to be honest at this point: Nelo is still a puppy and his development is far from complete. Once he is in his own home, becomes safer and eventually comes to youth age, the currently rather calm little guy can become a really energetic youngster again. How his character will develop exactly, we can't predict today. Whoever adopts a puppy does not get a finished surprise package with instructions for use, but a young dog that is still developing and wants to discover the world. But as lovingly Dana takes care of Nelo: An animal shelter should not be his home. A young dog should have his own family, experience walks, sleep on a soft blanket, discover the world and know to whom he belongs. That's exactly what we wish for Nelo now. We are looking for people who know that a puppy still has a lot to learn, who show him the life outside of an animal shelter with love and patience and give him a home for life. Nelo is multiple vaccinated, dewormed, chipped and of course in possession of an EU passport. Currently (as of August), he is not yet neutered, but this will happen soon. Before departure, a SNAP-D4 test will still be carried out. Contact: Nelo is mediated by the animal rescue organization Casa Katharina e.V. - with pre-control and protection contract. The association naturally has §11 (animal welfare law). We will also continue to support you after the adoption - for humans and animals. Nelo will arrive in 91278 Pottenstein as soon as he is adopted, where he must also be picked up. The transport takes place of course via Traces. There is a secure area available. We ask for your understanding that we do not want any exits at parking lots and we would like to introduce you personally to your new friend.

About Nelo (m)

What life with Nelo (m) looks like

Nelo (m) is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nelo (m), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nelo (m)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nelo (m) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nelo (m) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nelo (m) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nelo (m) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nelo (m) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
