Nemo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

We are very happy that our partners in Andalusia have been cooperating more and more for some time now. Whether it's preparing and carrying out joint transports, distributing food donations where they are most needed, or finding a place for dogs that can no longer be accommodated in an animal shelter, the Arca family has not only grown but also become closer. This is why Nova and Nemo were relocated from Dolmen Animal to Seville - and the two new arrivals have quickly found their place in the hearts of the animal welfare workers of Arca. Nemo is currently celebrating his (estimated) first birthday. An important milestone in the life of a young man, and on this occasion, our funny Podenco-hound-clown mix has wished for a cozy spot on the couch of a loving family. Our solo performer has stormed the hearts of our friends in Seville, and probably also those of the animal welfare workers from Dolmen. So if so many people are hoping for Nemo, the journey to great happiness should not wait too long. This cute eared creature is a cheerful and completely open-minded teenager who loves balls, quickly makes friends with other four-legged friends, finds tug-of-war very amusing, and cuddles devotedly. Of course, Nemo still doesn't know how to properly handle the leash, how to sit calmly in the car, not to steal shoes and make air holes, or that flower beds in the garden don't need to be dug up twice a day. But our friendly and charming Springinsfeld is more than ready to learn all of this and start a life as a model family dog. Nemo is looking for a humorous, understanding, and loving family with whom he can conquer the world. He finds children absolutely okay as playmates, but the next generation should perhaps have a certain level of stability for an energy package like Nemo. Ready, set, go - where is a cuddly basket free for Nemo?

About Nemo

What life with Nemo looks like

Nemo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nemo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nemo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nemo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nemo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nemo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nemo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nemo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
