• Need a quiet environment: Yes • Can live in the city: No • Get along with families: Unknown • Can get along with other dogs: Yes • Have lived with cats: No cat shelter • I have the following special features regarding character or breed traits: I am initially shy • Notable things regarding my health: No • The following health measures have been done for me: No • Have lived in home environment in foster care: I had a home, unknown if I lived indoors • Have been in shelter kennel for over 2 years: yes • Know how to walk on a leash: yes. A year has passed since my last update, and by miracle and wonder, my brother and I are still in the shelter kennel. We were moved to new premises in the middle of the fields, away from the city's hustle, and now we have nice yards to live in. Volunteers who came visiting from Finland were very surprised why I'm still here, as I'm what is considered a very cute young dog. At first I was a bit shy with the new faces, but very quickly I started begging for treats and pats and everyone fell in love with me. I really enjoyed being in the yard even though I remind more of a sheep than a dog. I also know how to walk nicely on a leash and I ran around with my kennel mate Nefi to our new running area. I would be completely ready to move to my own home, preferably active as I am still young and love playing and moving but it is also great to lie on my back receiving affection, best! So if you are enchanted by my sweet face or my hazel eyes, please submit an application to us so I can move to my own home this summer.

About Neonas

What life with Neonas looks like

Neonas is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pet Rescue Finland in Helsinki.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs calm environment, initially shy

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Neonas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Neonas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pet Rescue Finland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Neonas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Neonas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pet Rescue Finland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Neonas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Neonas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pet Rescue Finland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Neonas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
