Nerina

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

The female dog wandered aimlessly along the busy road from Porto Torres to Stintino, always in danger of being hit by one of the passing cars. Fortunately, she was caught and brought to Sandra at the pension. The female dog was not microchipped, and there was no missing dog report for her, so Sandra asked us for help. Of course, we agreed, but we requested that the female dog be spayed as soon as possible. She was estimated to be around 9 to 10 months old, and we didn't want to take the risk that she might have recently come into heat and been bred. At first, Nerina was very shy, but we understand, because who knows what the female dog experienced on the street during her time there... Now she is much more relaxed, and she gets along well with the other dogs in her enclosure. The pension at Sandra's is of course not a substitute for a real home. We also hope to find a home for Nerina soon where she can be part of a family. Would you give Nerina the chance to have a happy life with a close family connection? May 1, 2026 Nerina was allowed to travel to her German foster home. June 7, 2026: Nerina is a loving, friendly, and social female dog who lives problemlessly with other dogs, cats, and children in her foster home. She shows herself to be uncomplicated and compatible in everyday life and enjoys living with her foster family very much. When meeting strangers or in new situations, Nerina needs some time to build trust. Who knows what the pretty female dog has experienced in her previous life. But if given the time she needs, she opens up step by step and shows what a wonderful companion she can be. She has already built a close bond with her foster home and the children living there, meeting them with trust and affection. Nerina is looking for people with heart and patience who can give her security and take her gently by the paw. With the right support, she will continue to gain self-confidence and become a loyal and wonderful companion. Those who are willing to give her this chance will be rewarded with a very special female dog. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption brings a lot of joy but also a lot of work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We provide foster care throughout the country.

About Nerina

What life with Nerina looks like

Nerina is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nerina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nerina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nerina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nerina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nerina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nerina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nerina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
